Facing the Brutal Facts

As Christ-followers, we believe God has revealed in the Bible His plan for saving our fallen and broken world. In Revelation 7:9-10, He gives us a glimpse of the fulfillment of His plan: “After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: ‘Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.'” Can you visualize it? Every nation, tribe, people and language represented and worshiping Jesus, the Lamb, before His throne! What an amazing day that will be!

But the reality of our current situation is that there is still much work the global church must to do before this amazing day occurs. In our M3 disciple making and church planting trainings, we discuss in-depth Jesus’ Great Commission to “go, make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:18-20). Grasping this responsibility requires that we face some brutal facts such as:

  • – Every minute, 120 people in the world die and go into eternity—that’s 170,000 every day.
  • – 3.4 billion people are in danger of living and dying without having single opportunity to hear how they can be saved through Jesus.
  • – Out of the 17,704 identified people/ethnic groups in the world, 7,262 (43%) remain unreached with the gospel.
  • – The vast majority of unreached groups live in what is known as the 10/40 window, the rectangular area of North Africa, the Middle East and Asia approximately between 10 degrees north and 40 degrees north latitude (see image above). The vast majority of the world’s Muslims, Hindus, and Buddhists live in this window.
These facts highlight the urgency and priority of the global church’s mission. Here at M3 Global, we have made it the urgency and priority of our mission as well. We intentionally align with other like-minded churches and organizations that . . .
  • – Make unreached people in the 10/40 window our priority.
  • – Focus on multiplication and exponential growth rather than simply adding disciples and churches.
  • – Equip and mobilize every Christ-follower to obey all of Christ’s commands including the Great Commission.
  • – Identify, empower, and send out local leaders to start new churches that can continue to multiply the effort.

Working to fulfill our Lord’s mandate to make disciples of all nations is not only a great responsibility, but also a great privilege.
