I was reading in 1 Peter recently and the phrase, “filled with inexpressible and glorious joy” caught my attention. Peter was writing to persecuted Christ-followers in the first century and encouraging them to persevere in their faith by remembering the end result of it, the salvation of their souls. And just as his words encouraged them, we too should be encouraged by them because even though we have not seen our Savior in person, we love Him and believe in Him as they did. Truly only a profound love like this for a majestic God and His saving work can generate such an overwhelming sense of glorious joy.
The apostle Paul described our Lord’s work this way: “in Christ, God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:19). But did you catch the last part of that verse? Not only has Jesus provided the means by which we are reconciled to God, He has entrusted to us its reconciling message. This great privilege of being saved is not to be kept to our ourselves but carries with it a great responsibility of telling others how they too can receive it. The glorious joy we possess now compels us to share this Good News.

This Advent season is a wonderful opportunity to pray and ask God how He wants you to be more involved in getting the message of reconciliation to those who have never heard it. Perhaps He is leading you to join us in taking Jesus’ Good News to the billions of unreached people living across North Africa and Middle East. What a great blessing it would be to have you partner with us. What an inexpressible joy it would be to see countless more find salvation for their souls and enter God’s Kingdom!
