The Power of the Gospel

Last year, Hanad and his family were forced to flee from their home in Somalia. The Muslim terrorist group, Al-Shabab, had already taken their fourteen-year-old son, and now his daughters were also in danger of being kidnapped by the militant group. Hanad’s name means “brave one,” but as he shared his story with a church planter serving along the border of Ethiopia and Somalia, his grief and shame were obvious. Hanad had been unable to protect his eldest son and now he had no choice but to leave his own country. Despite a life-long devotion to Islam, his life was now sad, empty, and confused—at least until he heard the Good News of Jesus for the first time.

“When I heard the story of Jesus and how He sacrificed Himself for me, it all began to make sense,” Hanad said. “All the brokenness in my life and the world made me want to give up, but once I learned Jesus was the Savior that I needed, I gladly ran to Him for forgiveness and a new life.”

While Hanad’s circumstances as a refugee continue to be difficult, he continues to grow in his faith and obedience to Jesus. “As my relationship with Jesus has grown, my family has noticed more confidence and hope in me because of the peace I have found. Now my entire family has accepted Jesus too.”

Today, Hanad and his family are impacting the lives of other Somali refugees. His life is much different now. He has found purpose and meaning, and he is now helping others to find their purpose and meaning in Jesus.

Because of your prayer and financial support just this year, M3 trained church planters have led 253 Muslims into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. These new brothers and sisters are now bringing other Muslims to Jesus. Together, we are making an impact in places where the gospel has never been heard. By God’s grace, individuals, families, and communities are being transformed by its power.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.” – Romans 1:16
